He also holds other senior executive positions in the Myanmar government, these include: President, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry; President, Myanmar Fruit & Vegetable Producers & Exporters Association; President, Myanmar Farm Crop Producer's Association; Vice Chairman, Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association; and Vice Chairman, Myanmar Hotelier Association.

He is the founder Chairman of his country’s national logistics association, Chairman of the TIR - road transport commission, and has been on the boards of various organizations. On an international level, he was elected to the Board of FIATA in Zurich and later elected as Senior Vice President, he is currently a member of the FIATA’s Presidency.

Mr. Akash Bhavsar has several years of technology management and business consulting experience involving diverse industries, including clean technology and renewable energy.

He is the Managing Director of SkyQuest Technology Group, a global intellectual asset and technology focused research, accelerator and investment bank, supporting innovation ecosystems worldwide, providing access to technologies, markets and finance. It provides international business intelligence, market entry, international trade, technology and asset commercialization and fund syndication services, among others. He is also the Manager of India Workstation - South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange (a UNDP promoted initiative).

Akash has been instrumental in turning promising scientific ideas into useful products and companies. With his prolific experience spanning the United States, Germany, Israel, Canada, Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan Province of China, Singapore, and Malaysia, he possesses a holistic perspective and maintains the skills to diligently evaluate and value the commercialization potential of technologies. He has been part of 32 licensing deals and has been involved in fundraising of approximately US$ 90 million.

Akash has been involved in designing and delivering several courses and workshops related to technology management and entrepreneurship, and he has also authored articles on topics including technology transfer and open innovation. Additionally, he is currently the President of the Indian Innovators Association, Western Chapter, and has recently been appointed to the Board of Management of T.I.I. Luxembourg (Technology Innovation International).

Mr. Dinesh Bista is the Executive Chairman of Soaltee Hotel Limited, the owning Company of Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel, which is a 286 room deluxe five star hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, presently managed by the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG). The company is listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange. The organization also has under its operation, a very successful Flight Kitchen, which is ¬ a franchise with LSG SkyChef.

Bista has been extensively involved in the tourism industry and has led the company for over a decade through the most challenging period of insurgency in Nepal. With his acumen in assessing market trends, he has successfully expanded the business by introducing the right products at the right time.

Mr. Bista is a Commerce Graduate from Tribhuvan University Nepal and a Chartered Accountant from the institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has over 25 years of professional experience which also includes his tenure with the Nepal Electricity Authority and Nepal Grindlays Bank Limited, which is a member of ANZ Group. He is also the Chairman of Himalaya Mahalaxmi Tea Garden Pvt. Ltd. which owns and operates a Tea Estate in the Eastern plains of Nepal. He is also the Chairman of HI Soaltee Hotel Company Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture with Intercontinental Hotels Group which has been established to invest in new hotels in Nepal. Additionally, he is a member of national and international organizations like the Hotel Association Nepal, the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).

John has more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing information technology solutions in some of the most difficult environments in the world. Prior to his career with Microsoft, he spent several years in the management and technology consulting field and in the international foreign assistance markets, working in both the public and private sectors.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Virginia, and a Masters in International Business and Commerce Policy from George Mason University in the United States.

Kit Chan is the Managing Director of K-Farm Sdn Bhd. The company supplies fresh fruits and vegetables to supermarkets in Malaysia, and exports fresh fruits to Europe. K-Farm is GlobalGAP certified and works with contract farmers who supply exported produce.

Kit first started his career as a farmer growing carambola and mango. He has more than 25 years of experience in tropical fruit development. He is also active in the field of agricultural development, especially in capacity building work with the Asian Productivity Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization. His current projects involve the development of a GAP scheme in Pakistan with UNIDO and developing the pomelo export chain in Myanmar with FAORAP.

Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Corp Global, is possibly the youngest and most acclaimed business leader of Nepal. His company is a billion-dollar multinational headquartered in Nepal. Under his leadership, CG Corp operates 112 companies with 76 world-class brands in 19 different countries. Educated in Doon, Harrow and MIT schools, Nirvana founded his own company CG Finco when he was 19. A youth icon of Nepal, Nirvana is well-known for his diverse interests and ventures—as a philanthropist, consul-diplomat, artist, curator, musician, spiritual seeker, avid trekker and a national squash player. The philanthropic arm of CG, Chaudhary Foundation, has social business partners such as HelpAge and Yunus Centre. Currently, the Foundation is busy building houses for 120 schools damaged in Nepal’s earthquake and 10,000 transitional shelter homes for the earthquake survivors. He frequently writes columns on leadership in prominent business magazines.

Felix Richard Alcomendras Cordova has been President and CEO of Marcs Philippines Inc. from October 2007 onwards. During his term as President and CEO of Marcs Philippines Inc. he has held the additional role as Philippine representative to various renewable energy and solar initiatives globally, this includes: delegate to the German Solar Business Trip, organized by GIZ in 2012; business to business forum resource speaker for commercial application of solar energy technologies by small and medium enterprises, organized by APCTT-ESCAP in 2011; representative to the B2B Forum on Renewable Energy Technologies in Nanjing, China; delegate to the PV Summit 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan; and representative to the Asia Pacific Initiative for Renewable Energy in Bangkok, Thailand in 2010.

In addition to heading all business activities at Edward Marcs, he is also the founding member of the Solar Cooling Working Group, which was organized in 2011 by the International Copper Association of Beijing, China. He has also been the Philippine representative and speaker of the Asia - Pacific Conference on Building Integrated Solar Energy, organized by UN-ESCAP and held in Kunming China.

Throughout his term as President and CEO of Marcs Philippines Inc. he has succeeded in making the organization a leader in the Solar Assisted Aircon and Solar Thermal Technologies market in the Philippines, with a turn-over of Ps 35,000,000.00 and growing. . Additionally, he succeeded in expanding the organization into a technology provider of Solar Assisted Air-conditioning, heat recovery tank and partner of IFC for Sustainable Energy Financing Program in the Philippines.

He spent ten years both in Japan and Indonesia, and four years both in Malaysia and Australia managing businesses in the following sectors: FMCG (manufacturing, marketing & distribution), commodities trading, agri-food, ICT, energy-saving solutions & products, as well as infrastructure and construction.

He graduated from the School of Commerce, Waseda University, Japan in 1979 and is a lifetime member of the Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore (JUGAS).

Mr. Rinchen Dorji is currently Chairman of RSA Private Limited, an exporter of mineral products (lime stone boulders, slabs, powder, and value added products of limestone, such as calcium carbonate/premix for poultry and animal feed supplement). Mr.Rinchen Dorji established the company in 1994; under his leadership, since its foundation, the company has made rapid progress in identifying new export-products and market destinations, which has resulted in increased export volume.

In addition to his work as Chairman of RSA Private Limited, Mr. Rinchen Dorji is Chairman of Druk SaTair Corporation Ltd. The Druk SaTair Corporation Ltd., was established in 1994; it extracts natural gypsum at Pema Gatshel and markets gypsum in Bhutan and neighbouring regions.

Prior to becoming a business man, Mr. Rinchen Dorji served the Royal Government of Bhutan for over twenty years in varying capacities. He has also been a member of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he has contributed significantly to increase exports from Bhutan to Bangladesh.

Hoang Van Dung is the First Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also Chairman of the Viet Nam-Korea Business Council, Viet Nam-Taiwan Business Council, and Viet Nam Sweden Business Council.

Prior to joining the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hoang served as Commercial Counselor of the Viet Nam Embassy in the United Kingdom and as Chairman and Managing Director of the Trade Services Company.

Dr. Jingjai Hanchanlash is Chairman of the Office of National Education Standard and Quality Assessment. The Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment is an academic body specializing in education quality evaluation with an aim to enhance the quality of education provision in Thailand.

Dr. Jingjai also co-chairs the Thai-EU Business Council, chairs the GMS Business Forum and is the Executive Chairman of the Rutnin Eye Hospital. He has also served the government as a member of the executive board in the Thai Chamber of Commerce. Prior to this, Dr. Jingjai held a senior position in the International Development Research Centre as Regional Director for Asia.

Dr. Jingjai holds a Ph.D. in law from Unversite de Caen in France. He holds a Certificate in Project Analysis from the University of Connecticut in the United States and a Certificate in Mid-Career Management from the University of Western Ontarian in Canada.

Fuad Azim Hashimi is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and currently heads Pakistan Business Council’s Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business. Through leadership of the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance from 2007 till recently, he played a key role to further corporate governance practices in Pakistan. He is a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group of International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group and a regular participant, moderator and speaker at OECD’s Asian Roundtable on Corporate Governance and its Asia Network on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises.

His career over the past 52 years has provided him with a strong foundation in public accounting (he was a partner for 10 years in A. F. Ferguson & Co, a member firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers) as well as management of diversified business and commercial ventures, in Pakistan and abroad, ranging from banking, office automation and information technology to mutual funds.

Hashimi’s other appointments include being a member of the board of directors of International Industries Limited and Chair of its Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Task Force of Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance for Review of the Code of Corporate Governance 2012 and of the Public Sector Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Chung Jin Heung, newly appointed as a business advisory member, has varied experience in industrial sectors such as motion controls, inverter manufactures, MAGLEV system development, as well as power supply for mobile relaying stations. In 1980, he started his career as a research engineer, following his graduate studies in power engineering and control systems at the Korea University in Seoul. Later he went on to study power systems analysis and power electronics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the last twenty years, since returning to Seoul, he has actively participated in technical development, manufacturing, business operation, and project development. Since 2010 he has provided consulting service to power sector development in Africa, South East Asia, and Central America, funded by EDCF associated bank. The consulting area covers construction in transmission lines, substations, and new & renewable energy project development. In addition, he is specifically interested in the application of fuel cells to generating electricity as a long range mission, together with green energy business development.

Mr. Asif Ibrahim is the former President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), the largest trade body of Bangladesh. He is currently the Chairman of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), a Public Private Dialogue platform to expedite policy reforms to enable private sector led economic growth of Bangladesh. Mr Ibrahim is currently on the board of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). He received his formal education from the University of Delhi (India) and the University of North Texas (USA). Mr. Ibrahim is currently the Vice Chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a business house involved mainly in manufacturing and exporting ready-made garments, textiles and plastic products. He has previously been on the board of the France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB) and the Bangladesh Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI). He is also the former Chairman of the research cell of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). Mr. Ibrahim was awarded the Commercially Important Person (CIP) status by the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh in the year 2007 for his contribution in national export.

Matthew Lam is the Executive Deputy Chairman of Lai Fung Holdings Limited and the Executive Director of Lai Sun Group, which engages in garment manufacturing and distribution, property development and investment, hotel operations and management, and media and entertainment in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The organization’s shares have been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1972; Matthew has been a member of the board of directors since 1999.

Matthew has a vast amount of experience in property development, corporate finance and retail business in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He is currently the Chairman of the Yangtze River Delta Region’s Hong Kong Real Estate Association and the Honorary President of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China. Since 2002, Matthew has been a Standing Committee Member of the Shanghai Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a Standing Committee Member of the Guangdong Province Shantou Municipal's Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is a political advisory body in the People's Republic of China.

Matthew graduated from the University College London with an undergraduate degree and underwent training as a lawyer with an international law firm, Reed Smith Richards Butler. He is currently a practicing lawyer in Hong Kong and a founding partner of a Hong Kong law firm, CWL Partners in association with Nixon Peabody. He is a member of the Law Society of Hong Kong and a member of the Law Society of England and Wales. Matthew also serves as an Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in Hong Kong and a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Dato' Dr Jannie Tay is the co-founder of the Hour Glass Ltd., in 1979, a leading watch retailer with 24 boutiques in Asia-Pacific. She has been a member of the ESCAP Business Advisory Council since its initiation in 2004.

Dato' Jannie was one of the 50 Australians and alumni chosen to be honored at the Advanced Women's Leadership Summit in Sydney in 2012. Also, her entrepreneurial skills, foresight and fundraising has garnered her many accolades such as Monash University Distinguished Alumni Award (2003); Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP) with the title Dato' (2002); an Hononary Doctorate in Business Administration by Oxford Brookes University, UK (1999); and the 50 leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World Award, Paris (1997).

In August 2009, she was the first woman to win the Enterprise Asia's APEA Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Asia-Pacific award which rewards entrepreneurs for outstanding performance and tenacity in developing successful businesses.

His experience includes developing government policies and programs to comply with the requirements of WTO rules and assisting in the formulation of WTO compliant incentive schemes.

Dr. Xin Liu has been the Managing Director and Senior Engineer at the EED Research Center from 2004 to present. His area of expertise includes environmental project management and evaluation, as well as environmental safety criteria, and laws and regulations in China. Also, he has been in charge of business development and quality assurance, as Managing Director of the EED Research Center. Additionally, in this role he has been involved in a variety of projects, including acting as Deputy Team Leader/Organization and Training Expert in the project ‘Developing a Low-Carbon Economy in Yunnan Province’ for the ADB/Yunnan provincial government, as well as the post of Team Leader/Low-Carbon Economy Expert in the project ‘Towards a Low Carbon Development Path for Asia and the Pacific Challenges and Opportunities to the Energy Sector for UNESCAP.’ Furthermore, from 1994-2004, Dr. Xin Liu held the position as Senior Project Manager for the Foreign Cooperation Center of Environmental Protection of the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP). As part of the position held in the MEP, Dr. Xin Liu has been responsible amongst others, for drafting and preparing the country’s strategic environmental development report, as well as for providing support for organizing workshops and training seminars for information exchange and capacity building.

She serves on the Advisory Council of the Governments Department of Biotechnology and is part of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade & Industry in India and the US-India CEO Forum.

A pioneer of the Indian biotech sector, Kiran works with the government in shaping policies for the biotech industry. She chairs Karnataka's Vision Group on Biotechnology and also served on the Board of Science Foundation, Ireland. She serves as a member of the Governing Body and General Body of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, an Autonomous Body of the Government of India.

Mr. Peralta, of the Philippines, is presently the Secretary General of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), which acts as the focal point for 131 development banks and other financial institutions engaged in sustainable development financing in 45 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. ADFIAP is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in consultative status with the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council. He was the Secretary General of the World Federation of Development Finance Institutions (WFDFI), from January 2010 to December 2012. WFDFI is an umbrella organization of 328 development banks in 154 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

Mr. Peralta has extensive international exposure, having worked on various capacity-building programs and training events with multilateral development organizations and acted as a resource person on sustainable development banking and finance in many meetings and conferences. He is an EDI-World Bank Fellow, having completed his Trainers Course for Development Bankers in Washington, D.C. in 1990. Wang Jinzhen is Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Vice Chairman of the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC). He is also the Chief Delegate of China at the Bureau of International Exhibitions and a member of the China-India Eminent Persons' Group.

Before joining CCPIT in 1979, he was Deputy Director of China International Economic and Technical Cooperation Consultants Inc. He served CCPIT in various senior positions including Deputy Director-General and Director-General of the Department of International Relations; Assistant Chairman; Deputy Secretary General and Spokesman in 2004; Secretary-General and Vice Chairman in 2006. He has also worked as Secretary General at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) China Committee from 1998 to 2007.

Wang studied at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.

Carson Wen

Carson Wen

Carson Wen is a partner of the global law firm Jones Day and has more than 30 years of experience in business, corporate, and securities law. He is also Chairman of the Sancus Group of companies. Mr. Wen was a Singapore Government Scholar at the National Junior College, Singapore. He then studied economics at Columbia University and law at Oxford University.

Mr. Wen is a three-term Deputy of the PRC National People's Congress. He is a Justice of the Peace and was also awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the HKSAR Government. Mr. Wen is Senior Adviser and former Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), the largest political party in Hong Kong, and also holds leadership positions in various organizations such as the Pacific Basin Economic Council and the China Africa Business Council of Hong Kong.

Kosala Wickramanayake

Kosala Wickramanayake is Immediate Past President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Sri Lanka (FCCISL) and the Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Kosala also holds several key positions in commercial organizations including CEO of Kosala Enterprises Ltd; and Director of Sterling Jersey Ltd., Airport and Aviation Authority Services Ltd., Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Standards Institution, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Hotel Developers PLC (the holding company of the Colombo Hilton).

Earlier, he served as Director of Lankaputhra Development Bank, SME Bank, and Sri Lanka Tourist Board. He was President of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry, and the American Alumni Association.

Working with federal agencies and commercial organizations, he has served as a catalyst to encourage SMEs development. He has 37 years experience in import/export and manufacturing.

Kosala is a graduate in Economics and Business Management from the US.


Michael Yeoh

DR. MICHAEL YEOH is a public intellectual, social entrepreneur and thought leader with over 30 years of boardroom, corporate management and international experience. He is Co-founder, Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (better known as ASLI), and the Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) globally ranked as one of the top Think Tanks in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Yeoh had served on the boards of public-listed companies involved in property development, food manufacturing, banking and financial services, education and healthcare. Dr. Yeoh is also President of the Invest Asia Foundation which promotes closer links between US Europe and Asia and investments into social enterprises in Asia to help achieve the UN SDGs. He is also Group Adviser to the Aladdin Group, the world’s fastest growing e-commerce company valued at USD400 million.

His international and regional experience included been a Member of the 10-member ASEAN High Level Task Force on Connectivity, appointed by the ASEAN Heads of Government, as well as been Chairman of the ASEAN Leadership Forum, the World Chinese Economic Forum and Secretary General of the World Muslim Leadership Forum and ASEAN Business Forum. He has spoken at the World Economic Forum and is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Directors and Member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), London. With a strong interest in Human Rights and Competition Policy, he was a former Commissioner in Malaysia’s Human Rights Commission and Competition Commission and is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Graduating in Economics from Australia’s Monash University, he has attended the Aresty Institute at Wharton School and received the Doctorate of Laws (h.c) from the University of Nottingham, UK. Widely travelled, he has been invited to speak at international conferences in China, Japan Korea, Taiwan, India, USA, Canada, Britain, Netherlands, Portugal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. He is also the author of several books.

George Yuen

George Yuen

Board Director, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia), Hong Kong, China

George Yuen is currently an independent Non-Executive Director of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia), which is an international flagship operation of ICBC, the world's largest bank in terms of market capitalization. Mr. Yuen has held the board directorship since 2003.

He is also a member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong and a fellow of the Center for Social Innovation from Stanford University, USA.

Mr. Yuen is active in social services in the non-profit sector; he is a co-founder and vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Society for the Aged, the largest organization serving the elderly in Hong Kong. Besides, Mr. Yuen had been the Chief Executive of the Better Hong Kong Foundation, a leading non-partisan, non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion of Hong Kong in Asia Pacific and beyond.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Mr. Yuen was a directorate member of the Hong Kong Information Services Department, where he led the government's overseas public relations programs; he served the government for 25 years. Previously, Mr. Yuen held a marketing management position at Nestlé’s.

Mr. Yuen obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Hong Kong and received his postgraduate education in International Management and Public Administration at Harvard, INSEAD, Oxford and Stanford, throughout his career.

Yuen is also on the Board Director of Visteon Corporation, which is a leading global automotive supplier and manufacturer, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and a Fortune 300 company with operations in 30 countries employing 55000 people.
