Private Sector Partnerships Forum at Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States

30 Aug 2014 to 4 Sep 2014
Apia, Samoa

The United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) jointly with the host Government of the Independent State of Samoa and the Samoa Chamber of Commerce will convene a two day Private Sector Partnerships Forum preceding the 2014 Third International Conference on SIDS on 1-4 September in Apia, Samoa.

The Forum will explore the theme “Fostering private sector partnerships to support sustainable development in SIDS”. It will provide a platform upon which genuine and durable partnerships to support the sustainable development of SIDS can be announced, existing partnerships showcased or scaled up; particularly in six thematic areas. The Forum will also facilitate interaction and networking between senior business and government leaders to enhance private sector partnerships for SIDS and facilitate the sharing of information and best practices within SIDS regarding policies, programmes and practices geared towards strengthening business and industry in the pursuit of sustainable development.

This Forum is a valuable opportunity for EBAC to make a substantial contribution to shaping the development of private sector partnerships in this particularly vulnerable part of the world. All EBAC members are strongly encouraged to participate.
